About

Carrie Smoot loves all musical genres, but classical music’s moods have always intrigued her. At some points it’s very soft and peaceful. At other times it’s very boisterous. Follow along as she learns more about musical instruments, orchestras, symphonies, and all composers, living and dead.

Carrie’s day job is a nonfiction writer, editor and proofreader.

    Hi Carrie,

I just found your blog in which you mentioned hearing the song “Japanese Bowls” in Garrison Keillor’s show. I love that song too and I did a little research. It turns out that it was originally sung by Peter Mayer. The sentiments expressed in this song express very well the Japanese Zen aesthetics of “wabi sabi.

    Best regards,
